A Brief statement
of VGD ( Vulnerable Group Development Programme)
of one year run by the Directorate of Relief
& Rehabilitation.
Bangladesh
is a disaster prone country. Natural calamities
like Flood, Cyclone, Tornado, River erosion
etc. cause damage to the crop and other properties
of the people of Bangladesh . The middle class
people specially the people become the victims of natural disasters. Govt. of Bangladesh
have launched V.G.F( Vulnerable Group Feeding
Programme) to help the disaster affected and
poor people. The objectives of V.G.F Programme
are (a) to ensure Food security for the poor
and affected people, (b) to help the increase
the nutrition for the poor and distressed children,
(c) to keep market price of essential commodities
stable, (d) to keep the supply of Food normal
during lean period and (e) to render both social
and financial help to the beneficiaries through
food distribution under this Programme.
The
poor people who are owner of not above than
0.15 acre of land, who have got no source of
regular income or who have got no earning member
in his or her family, day labourer, whose husband
is physically handicapped or the poor who have
been affected by natural disaster are eligible to get food aid under this programme.
